Artist: Dave Matthews Band
Album Title: Everyday
Label: UMA
Bones:
Summary: The last group that sounded this good was Springsteen's E Street Band
Reviewed By: Stuart McPhee

With one of the most interesting voices in music today and an exciting band to boot, the Dave Matthews Band shed their roots sound of 1998s Before These Crowded Streets for a more accessible style on the stunning new release, Everyday.

Already a number one record in the states, Everyday is an album that hooks you in from the very first chorus of the opener and first single, 'I Did It'. 'The Space Between', a no nonsense ballad, has the legs for radio airplay which would help introduce the band to a wider audience. Tracks like, 'If I Had It All' and 'So Right', allow the band to show off the brilliant playing of violinist Boyd Tinsley and Sax man Leroi Moore.

The group musically give a nod to the Police on 'Fool To Think' while the legendary Carlos Santana guests on 'Mother Father', the highlight of the album. The song is just as good as anything on Santana's Supernatural album (which both Dave and drummer Carter Beauford appear on). The album ends with the laid back gospel -style title track, 'Everyday'.

The Dave Matthews Band is one of those special combos that only come around once in a blue moon. The last group that sounded this good was Springsteen's E Street Band.
