At least he kept the knit cap going strong Reviewed

If you have never heard Badly Drawn Boy's (aka Damon Gough) debut CD 'The Hour of Bewilderbeast' and his work on the soundtrack 'About a Boy' some would hear Gough's cd and praise it as one of the year's finest. The CD is truely a lovely one, his most polished and studio focused one that he has made. But for Badly Drawn Boy, his album hasn't been a progression, but a stand still of sorts.
A man who made wearing knit caps cool before Enrique and Justin, he was also known for his quirkly lyrics, and maybe some of the most creative pop in years, came up alittle short on his third release. Have You Fed the Fish, a title after the first words he says to his wife every morning, is indeed a good album with such highlights as 'All Possibilities', the title track, and 'The Further I Slide' stand out well on an otherwise decent album.
Damon blends his many many influences into songs that are as varied from the 70's soul-r&b-rock song 'All Possibilities' to an acoustic ballad 'I Was Wrong'. The CD is in itself, for every one good, there is one and a half bad. The album isn't a horrible one, in fact, its better then most of the stuff out there. But when put in comparison to the past work of Damon Gough(aka Badly Drawn Boy), it just comes no where near. The album has a feel of trying to be a mainstream success, and almost has a feeling that he took his creative lyrics to an almost just plain weird level. But at least he kept the knit cap going strong.
