Incubus - A Crow Left Of The Murder Review

Artist: Incubus
Album Title: A Crow Left Of The Murder
Label: Epic/Sony
Bones:
Summary: Screaming girls can rest easy, they've returned
Reviewed By: Lovos De Lover

What can I say, it looks like Incubus have done it again. They are truly one of those band that can evolve with the times whilst keeping a legion of young girls happy. Since the earlier days Incubus have changed completely, even down to their Bass player, blaming ongoing sissy fits as the mutual departure. The new bass player is by the name of Ben Kenney formally from 'The Roots'.

On 'Crow Left Of The Murder', they team up with Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine) to record the album at his home studio in Atlanta. Throughout the album you hear a lot of guitar and bass riffs that are unlike the last couple of albums. DJ Kilmore's presence is felt throughout and adds a different feel for the listening masses.

The first song 'Megalomaniac' starts with a somewhat unnecessary sound. Once you get past the 30 seconds of annoyance (which in my case I couldn't and switched to the next song), you will find a great song, which starts the ball rolling to a solid album. The highlights have got to be 'Pistola' for the original fans and 'Sick Sad Little World' for the new generation. It is obvious from his lyrics that Brandon Boyd has contempt for television land's entire array of pop stars, however he has the ability of delivering great rhythmic tunes.

The whole album has a variety of listening pleasures for fans new and old alike. Once again, Incubus tap into their vast and talented musical repertoire that has helped the band not die off into the heavy metal graveyard as seen with many bands that started in the 90s. The unmistakable voice of Brandon Boyd and the bands great sound make this a good, solid album that is a must in any collection.
