Rock the vote! Reviewed

'Huey for President!' the front cover exclaims. And why not! It makes sense when you think about it: Mr Lewis and the News are reliable, in touch with the common man and are able to inject some much needed soul into this world of despair.
If Huey's elected, no doubt the first song that will be played at the innaugaration will be the opening track off his new album, Plan B. 'We're Not Here For a Long Time (We're Here For a Good Time)' is one of those unmistakable catchy News numbers that will have you wondering where have they been the past seven years. Apart from departing member, Mario Cipollina (who makes way for new bassist John Pierce) the original News line up is back with the help of a fine 3 piece brass section to guide them through 11 tracks of solid blues, rock and soul.
The sly wit of 'My Other Woman' and 'I Ain't Perfect' flow nicely from the opening track as well as the Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds penned 'When I Write the Book.' Huey also continues his duets of late but this time settling with the more renowned singer Wynonna Judd on 'I'm Not In Love Yet'. Other gems include 'Thank You #19' and 'So Little Kindness.'
However the most lasting track on the album is the ballad and U.S. single 'Let Her Go & Start Over'. Don't expect it to be heard on radio though. This album is bound to be shafted like John Farnham's last effort and the latest ELO album.
Yet if it was up to me, Huey would get my vote.
